Enhanced Cleaning and Community Ambassadors
Ballpark Denver provides 7-day-a-week, year-round cleaning services in the Ballpark District to keep it clean of litter and debris, including the elements along sidewalks and streets and in the alleys as well as other public spaces. These services are delivered by a professionally trained dedicated street team provided by the nation’s leading Ambassador service provider: Block By Block.
Cleaning will include, but not be limited to:
- Litter removal and debris sweeping
- Pressure washing
- Street furniture cleaning
- Weed removal
- Graffiti abatement
- An additional ad hoc menu of pay-per-services will be available to properties in the District starting in 2026.
By utilizing a cross-training method, Ballpark’s community ambassadors support a wide variety of hospitality services when needed.
The role of the community ambassadors may include, but not be limited to:
- Hospitality services to visitors to the Ballpark District, including providing directions and information about amenities in the Ballpark District and the adjacent areas.
- Business engagement, including staff members who get to know the local business community and their needs, and help support their success.
- Observing and reporting on issues and needs in the area to deliver supplemental services more effectively.
- Special event support, which may be delivered through additional contracts for service by event providers.
Infrastructure, Landscaping and Special Projects
The Ballpark General Improvement Districtis facilitating a comprehensive infrastructure analysis of the service area to identify and build support programming to address significant deferred maintenance in public realm amenities, and to identify immediate, short, and long term goals to enhance the built environment in Ballpark. Special projects will be coordinated through partnerships and advocacy to municipal and other funding resources to provide enhanced placemaking and larger infrastructure investments such as the 5280 Trail’s reimagining of 21st street as a people-centric corridor.
The Ballpark General Improvement Districtwill invest in enhancements that include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining existing lighting and adding additional lighting, including ongoing maintenance to electrical systems.
- Trash removal and trash can maintenance, with future expansion of trash and recycling cans.
- Landscaping and supportive programming for property owners to install and maintain trees and better aid in building a bio-diverse urban canopy.
- Ballpark branded directional signage and wayfinding.
- Banners and holiday décor installations.
- Art, murals, sculpture and other creative placemaking installations.
Community Safety and Security
The Ballpark General Improvement Districtwill invest resources in working towards a safer neighborhood for all. This includes but is not limited to:
- Invest in lighting enhancements throughout the Ballpark District, where needed.
- CTPED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) evaluations and strategic planning
- Coordinate with the City’s public safety department, the Denver Police Department, the Support Team Assisted Response (STAR) program team, the Denver Fire Department, and other safety service providers working in the neighborhood.
- A Community Safety Advisory Committee comprised of safety management and operations professionals employed throughout the community, community safety advocates, policy makers, and applicable representatives from the City and County of Denver.
- Proactive preventative deterrent services are provided as a part of the Community Ambassador program. These individuals are trained to de-escalate non-emergency situations, offer a constant safety presence in the community, and will be in regular communication with DPD, allowing for quicker response times to situations where a police presence is warranted. Community Ambassadors are not armed and are not members of the Denver Police Department (DPD) or other law enforcement entity.
Navigation and Service Support for People Experiencing Homelessness
The Ballpark General Improvement District and hyper-local social service providers have developed and continue to coordinate navigation of services to ensure people experiencing homelessness and all individuals seeking assistance are routed to the most appropriate place in a safe and respectful manner. By maintaining a partnership framework with local resource providers, the General Improvement District can aid in connecting those in need with wrap-around services by meeting them where they are.
This includes but is not limited to:
- Peer navigation to anyone and everyone seeking social & housing services
- Connections and transportation to available service providers
- A dedicated service provider working group that ensures continual partnership for improved community connection to local service centers and programs
- Supplemental maintenance and janitorial services coordinated around the encampment cleanup efforts of 3rd parties and municipal agencies
